We've decided to scale our digital marketing agency by partnering with a private label seo provider. It's been great for capacity and allowing us to offer a service we couldn't build in-house quickly.
However, we're running into a nuanced challenge: client management and transparency.
While the work is done under our brand, some clients are very hands-on and ask detailed questions about strategy and implementation that go beyond our high-level oversight. I want to be honest and maintain trust, but also protect the backend partnership.
My questions for agencies who've walked this path:
How transparent are you with clients about using a specialist partner? Do you present it as "our dedicated SEO team" or be more upfront?
What's your process for relaying complex client questions or feedback to your private label partner and getting a timely, client-ready response?
Have you found that using this model forces you to improve your own account management and strategy skills, since you're the "face" of the service?
I'm less interested in provider recommendations right now and more in the practical, day-to-day client relations side of this business model. Any stories or lessons learned would be invaluable!
